Walk trail a boon for some, a risk for city

Those who want to use the new, steep wooden walk trail that links East Valley and Siloam Mountain parks are currently turned away by a bright yellow “closed” sign blocking the path. The closure is due to safety concerns. (Photo by Eric Copeland)

Elaina Lamley is disappointed because she’s no longer able to finish one of the most important parts of her boot camp workout.
Lamley expressed her displeasure at the closure of part of the East Valley Park/Siloam Mountain walk trail in a post on the Standard’s Facebook wall recently. The closure is at the point at which stairs that go up the hillside from Missouri 10 intersect with the walk trail. Further on, the trail becomes quite steepwhich is what its most frequent users like.
“This is a great path,” Lamley said, “especially for those who really enjoy a good cardio session and/or leg workout outside of a gym.”
