David S. Adams
David Scott Adams, 38, Polo, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Adams was born Nov. 24, 1970, in Bakersfield, Calif., the son of Larry Scott and MarDee (Orton) Adams. He was married to Jean (Kerste) Adams on June 20, 1992. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Richmond Branch, where he was Branch President. He was employed as channel manager for TelNav Corporation. Survivors include his wife, Jean, of the home; five children, Kaitlyn, Ashley, Amber, Daniel, and EmmaLeah Adams, all of the home; his parents, Larry and MarDee Adams, Logan, Kan.; four brothers, Steven, Joseph, Daniel, and Wesley Adams; and two sisters, Susan Jones and Laura Louellen. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Wood Heights. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the church. Private family burial will be held on Thursday. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.

F. Lorine Alley
F. Lorine Alley, 84, Lee's Summit, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008. Mrs. Alley was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Kansas City. She lived most of her life in Missouri except for the years she spent traveling in California and Texas with her military husband. She and her husband co-owned the Gasoline Alley Hardware Store in Lake Lotawana, in addition to several rental properties, for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by a son, J. Warren Alley. Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn L. Grissom, Lake Lotawana, and Marilyn S. Dodds, Kearney; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ Restoration; burial in Floral Hills East Cemetery. Arrangements are through D.W. Newcomer's Floral Hills Chapel in Kansas City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ Restoration Branch, 9525 E. Main Entrance Dr., Lee's Summit, Mo. 64086.

Ed Barker
Edwin Merle "Ed" Barker, 80, Richmond, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at his home. Mr. Barker was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Warrensburg, the son of Erven Merle and Eva Jewell (Bush) Barker. He was married to Pearl Bell Ridenour on July 2, 1954; she preceded him in death on March 6, 2004. After serving in the U.S. Army, he spent 44 years working as an over-the-road truck driver, working for Conservation Chemical and later Borden's before retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Richmond. In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Lee Barker, on Sept. 19, 1990; and three sisters. Survivors include four children, Betty Davis, Oklahoma City, Okla., Edwin Barker Jr., of Richmond, John Barker, Lawson, and Glen Barker, Kearney; one sister, Glenda Carpenter, Independence; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside committal service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Richmond Memory Gardens. Cremation. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Richmond.

Helen Bledsoe
Helen L. Bledsoe, 87, Kansas City, Kan., died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Presbyterian Manor in Kansas City, Kan. Ms. Bledsoe was born Aug. 20, 1921, in New Madrid, the daughter of Sanford and Nettie Clark. She worked 12 years as a waitress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence L. Bledsoe; daughter, Judy Diehl; four brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include one son, Donald Bledsoe, Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Patsy Randolph, Kansas City, Kan.; four sisters; two brothers, including George Clark, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kan.; burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday.

Vicki Bollinger, 49, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008. Cremation. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

*David Bosch
David Clayton Bosch, 58, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. David was born Oct. 8, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo., to parents John Samuel and Geraldine (Ashinhurst) Bosch. He joined the United States Navy in 1968, and later worked as an E-911 manager in the communications field. On July 14, 1974, David married Ramona Jean Shook in Kansas City, Mo. He enjoyed woodworking and reading science magazines, and loved the Kansas City Chiefs, no matter what the score was. David is survived by wife, Ramona J. Bosch, of the home; daughters, Danielle Marie Mills and fiancé, Philip, Shawnee, Kan., and Sara Lyn Bosch, Liberty, Mo.; mother, Geraldine Bosch, Dover, Del.; mother-in-law, Willie Lea Shook, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; brothers, John F. Bosch, Garland, Texas, and Robert Bosch, Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Linda Murabita, Dover, Del., and Brenda Searcy, Tulsa, Okla.; sister-in-law, Rosalie Moffet and husband, Tom, Lawson, Mo.; grandsons, Grant and Alex Mills, Shawnee, Kan.; and many other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his father, John S. Bosch. Funeral services for David will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Excelsior Springs Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs, Mo. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, Nov. 7, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, also in Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Anne Burcham
Anne J. Burcham, 39, Sedalia, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, in Independence, Mo., due to an automobile accident. Ms. Burcham was born Feb. 3, 1969, in Orrick, the daughter of Clyde and Rayetta (Griffin) Fulte. She was a homemaker. She had been attending the United Methodist Church in Sedalia. Survivors include her boyfriend, Dennis Blankenship, of the home; one daughter, Ashley Burcham, Excelsior Springs; two sons, Kelby Burcham, Excelsior Springs, and Trevor Runyan, Alton; and four siblings, Bonnie, Barb, Jack and Debbie. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Burial will be in Lexington Memory Gardens in Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anne Burcham Memorial Fund, in care of Polley Funeral Home, P.O. Norman Cardwell Jr.
Norman Lee Cardwell Jr., 66, Clinton, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at his home. Mr. Cardwell was born in Clay County. He lived in Kansas City, where he worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation. In 1983 he moved to Clinton, where he was maintenance supervisor until he retired 11 years ago. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Sr. and Emma Mae Cardwell; his wife of 43 years, Mary Elizabeth 3Beth2 Cardwell; his daughter, Michelle Lee; and three brothers, Curtis, Clifford, and R.G. 3Gene2 Cardwell. Survivors include his wife, Retha, of the home; one son, Kevin Cardwell, Olive Branch, Miss.; one sister, Sallie Daniel, Kansas City; five sisters-in-law, including Loretta Collum, Excelsior Springs, and Valorie Baltzel, Liberty; two stepsons, Dean Webber and Richard Webber; and other relatives. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the First Assembly of God Church in Clinton. Graveside services were scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Clay County. Arrangements are through Vansant-Mills Chapel in Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church in Clinton.

Sharon Clark
Sharon Clark, 55, Kansas City, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. Mrs. Clark was born Sept. 12, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Robert G. and Margie (Terrill) Bennett. She had worked as a scan coordinator for Hy-Vee Food Stores. She was married to Michael Clark on Oct. 23, 2001. Survivors include her husband, Michael, of the home; three sons, Robert Ludeke, St. Joseph, John Ludeke, Kearney, and Larry Ludeke, Rayville; her mother, Margie Bennett, Excelsior Springs; one sister, Terry Ann Hubbard, Liberty; one brother, Bob Bennett, Belton; and seven grandchildren. Cremation. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.

Josephine Cupito
Josephine Louise (Hall) (Munkirs) Cupito, 97, formerly of Kearney, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 16, at Liberty Terrace Care Center in Liberty, Mo. Ms. Cupito was born May 3, 1911, in Clay County near Kearney, Mo., the daughter of George and Emma Jane (Riley) Hall. She was married to Orin Waid Munkirs on Oct. 7, 1932; he preceded her in death in 1974. She was married to Anthony Cupito on July 5, 1979; he preceded her in death in 2002. She worked at Betty Rose Coats and Suits for 19 years, retiring in 1962. Survivors include a sister, Helen (Hall) Griffey, Kearney; a brother, Robert J. Hall, Kearney; a sister-in-law, Gerri Hall, Kearney; and three nephews, three nieces and several great-nephews and -nieces. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Fry-Bross and Spidle Chapel in Kearney; burial in Fairview Cemetery in Kearney. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 455 Sam Barr Rd., Kearney, Mo. 64060.

Ann Dana
Ann Dana, 88, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center. Mrs. Dana was born March 18, 1920, in Ray County, the daughter of Wiley William and Alma Pearl (Holder) Kincaid. She was married to Lincoln Dana on May 3, 1937; he preceded her in death. Following her marriage she was a homemaker and she and her husband lived on a farm near Knoxville. After World War II they lived in the Polo area, then moved to Excelsior Springs. In addition to being a homemaker, she had also been employed at various drug stores including the Marietta Drug Store. She was a member of the Polo Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard Dana; one sister, Mary Anderson; and one brother, Robert Kincaid. Survivors include one daughter, Jeanette French, Battlefield, Mo.; five grandchildren, Ann Bird, Rogersville, Ark., James French, Springfield, Mike Dana, Kansas City, Mary Ann Arnold, Riverside, and Dee Cromwell, Blue Springs; and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at noon Friday, Nov. 14, at the Masonic Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.

Albert Deason
Albert W. Deason, 87, Liberty, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, followed by memorial services at 7 p.m., both at Church-Archer-Pasley Chapel in Liberty. Inurnment at a later date.

"Jerry" Dickson
John Frederick "Jerry" Dickson, 69, Richmond, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Excelsior Springs Medical Center in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Mr. Dickson was born Oct. 19, 1939, in Richmond, the son of John Maynard and Mary Lucille (Burns) Dickson. He was married to Barbara A. Miller on Aug. 12, 1962. He worked for the Missouri Highway Department for 36 years, retiring in 1998 as a senior construction inspector. He had recently worked as an engineering consultant for the city of Richmond on the Wellington Street Project. He had also been a high school football and basketball referee. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Dickson, of the home; one son, Morgan Todd Dickson, Richmond; one daughter, Jennifer Ann Ideker, St. Joseph; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, at the Richmond United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Visitation was held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, at Thurman Funeral Home, with a Tribe of Mic-O-Say ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Burial in Richmond Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richmond United Methodist Church.

William East
William Lee East, 55, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at Excelsior Springs Medical Center. Mr. East was a forklift operator. Visitation was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Wheaton Funeral Home in Wheaton, Mo., with services following at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial in Macedonia Cemetery in Stella, Mo.

"Bob" Eggleston
John Robert "Bob" Eggleston, 73, Liberty, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at his home. Survivors include his wife, Sue; seven children; a sister; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel in Liberty, with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty; burial in Glenridge Cemetery.

Richard Lee Evans, 44, Eagleville, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008. Cremation. Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Excelsior Springs.

Marguerite Finter
Marguerite Finter, 88, Windsor, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at her home. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Ninemire, Liberty, Linda Dunnam, Parkville, and Judy Gillespie, Kansas City; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland in Parkville. Graveside services and burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mound Grove Cemetery in Sugar Creek. Julian E. Fowler, 89, Richmond, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond; burial in Richmond Memory Gardens. Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Clifford Gillespie
Clifford Maxton Gillespie, 65, Liberty, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Liberty Hospital. Mr. Gillespie retired three years ago from his position as a social worker with the state of Missouri. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty. Survivors include his wife of eight years, Teri Gillespie, of the home; a daughter, Stephanie Brown, Kansas City; sons, Kent Gillespie, Kearney, and Mark Gillespie, Ft. Drum, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Jessie Loope, Hillsboro, Ore.; his parents, Kenneth and Henrietta Gillespie, Albany, Mo.; a brother, Craig Gillespie, Albany, Mo.; his previous wife of 33 years and mother of his children, Helen Ford, Liberty; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home in Liberty; inurnment in Glenridge Cemetery, Liberty.

Veda Glenn
Veda Margaret Glenn, 91, Rayville, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at her home. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond; burial in Richmond Memory Gardens.

Anna Graber
Anna Barbara Graber, 90, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008. Visitation and devotional were held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Bethel Mennonite Church in Richmond, Mo. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at the Graber Complex in Montgomery, Ind.; burial will also be in Indiana, at the Zion Church Cemetery. Arrangements are through Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.

Terry Harper
Terry Leon "Smokehouse" Harper, 66, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at his home. Mr. Harper was born March 13, 1942, in West Frankfort, Ill., the son of William L. and Maude M. (Murphy) Harper. He worked as a truck driver, hauling cars for Allied Systems. Survivors include two sons, Brent L. Harper, Platte City, and William H. Harper, Kearney; sisters, Linda S. Mefferd, West Frankfort, Ill., Ramonia Wenk, Oklahoma City, Okla., Violet Mefferd, West Frankfort, Ill., and Ruth Malbon, Tucson, Ariz.; brothers, Harold D. Harper, West Frankfort, Ill., and Robert D. Harper, Travoli, Ill.; and two grandchildren. A visitation will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov, 18, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Ill. Burial will follow at the Denning Cemetery, also in West Frankfort, Ill. Helen Hays
Helen M. Hays, 88, Liberty, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008. Ms. Hays was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Louisville, Ky. She was married to George Howard Hays in 1946. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; and her brother, Bill. Survivors include three children, Ruth Hays, St. Louis, Barbara Stevenson, Liberty, and Howard Hays, Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Second Baptist Church in Liberty. Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney. "Patty" Henderson
Patricia "Patty" Henderson, 67, Liberty, Mo. (formerly of Cameron, Mo.), died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Immacolata Manor in Liberty. Ms. Henderson was born Sept. 18, 1941, in Bedford, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth Edward and Verna L. (Coffman) Henderson. She attended several day school programs, including Cameron Child Development, for several years. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann "Tiger" Welton; and a brother, Kenneth Henderson, Jr. Survivors include a sister, Mary Lane Henderson, Excelsior Springs; a niece, Sherry Britt, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and two great-nieces, Grace Britt, Excelsior Springs, and Christi Britt, Independence. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. "Sonny" Houchin
Harold L. "Sonny" Houchin, 72, Hardin, Mo. (formerly of Kansas City, Mo.), died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Mo. Mr. Houchin was born March 23, 1936, in Kansas City, the son of James and Lillian (Whitehead) Houchin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha (Murphree) Houchin; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Deborah Cravens, Hardin; two sons, Christopher Houchin, Kansas City, and Shawn Houchin, Hamilton; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Richmond.

A.J. Ivey
A.J. Ivey, 70, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at Excelsior Springs Medical Center. Mr. Ivey was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Gentry, Ark., the son of Austin and Virginia (Osborne) Harper. He was married to Sharon Sandstrom on May 12, 1962 he married Sharon Sandstrom in Miami, Okla. He served in the United States Marine Corps from March 1957 to March 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ivey, of the home; son, Brett Ivey, Excelsior Springs; brother, Jim Ivey; sister, Carolyn Bowman; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, also at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service in Crown Hill Cemetery in Excelsior Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the National Elks Foundation.

C.D. James
Corinthian Durwood James, 90, Richmond, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at his home. Mr. James was born Sept. 20, 1918, in Henrietta, the son of Mattie A. Wilson James and William James. He lived in Ray County all of his life. He was a hardworking common laborer, projectionist at the Farris Theater, coal miner, yardman at Harrison and Ty Lumber, fireman for the Richmond Fire Department, maintenance supervisor for Gowing-Snow Funeral Home, and member of Second Baptist Church of Richmond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jessie Fern Taylor James, in March 1990; and two grandchildren, Erin and Aimee Collins. Alta M. Johnson, age 99, a resident of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and a former resident of Avalon and Meadville, Mo., passed away at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center in Excelsior Springs, Mo. She was born Feb. 24, 1909, in Grundy County, Mo., the daughter of William Joel and Tena (Bartholome) Triplett. On Oct. 13, 1928, she was married to Edward Dust. He preceded her in death. On Nov. 11, 1971, she was married to Floyd Johnson. He preceded her in death. Alta worked as a cook for the Tina-Avalon School for almost 20 years, retiring in 1969. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Avalon and the Rebekah Lodge in Avalon. Alta enjoyed gardening canning and quiltin. She worked for the election board for 40 years and enjoyed serving her community. She most enjoyed her family and being a grandmother. Laura Marie Johnson, 82, North Kansas City, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at the Excelsior Springs Convalescent Center. Ms. Johnson was born July 29, 1926, in Oakford, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Ethel (Isley) McKinney. She was married to William E. Johnson on March 2, 1946, and worked most of her life as a nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Douglas E. Johnson. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Ann and James Bax, North Kansas City; and granddaughter, Mandy M. Bax, Smithville. Rose Marie Lee
Rose Marie Lee, 59, Camden, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at Shirkey Leisure Acres in Richmond, Mo., after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Lee was born April 13, 1949, in California. She was raised by her foster parents, Ron and Jeanine Appel, Thousand Oaks, Calif. She was married to Allen Keith Lee on April 3, 1991; he survives, of the home. She worked at the Methodist Home in Enid, Okla., for more than 20 years before moving to Missouri. She had also worked at Shirkey Leisure Acres in Richmond. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Nellie Mae Rose Harris and Ami Melissa Helden; one granddaughter, Jeanie Marie Gholson; one brother, Harry Shaw; one sister, Dorothy Laird; and one half-brother, Tom Foster. Survivors include one son, Vernon Rose Jr.; one daughter, Lanessia "Lisa" Rosland; one brother, William Shaw, Richmond; two sisters, Faye Silva, California, and Alice Polk, Arkansas; one foster sister, Ronnie Jean Parkhurst, California; five stepchildren; 25 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorial services will be held at noon Saturday, Dec. 6, at Fleming Baptist Church in Fleming, Mo. Denzil Lewis
Denzil Lewis, 70, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at the Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. Mr. Lewis was born Feb. 9, 1938, in Chariton County, the son of Floyd Younger and Pearl (Cupp) Lewis. He was married to Larna Cook on Aug. 8, 1959. Denzil love to play bluegrass music, and was a member of both the Tri-State Bluegrass Association and Home of Bluegrass Association (HOBA). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Darrell Lewis; and brothers, Harrison, Milton, Donald and William. Survivors include his wife, Larna (Cook) Lewis, of the home; son, David A. Lewis, Lawson; daughter, Brenda L. Lewis, Excelsior Springs; sisters, Jesse N. Flathouse, Boerne, Texas, and Atha M. "Joe" Marrali
Giuseppe "Joe" Marrali, 81, Gladstone, Mo., died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008. Mr. Marrali was born April 11, 1927, in Licata, Sicily, the son of Antonino and Francesca Marrali. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, and then worked as the head chef at the Italian Gardens Restaurant for 33 years. Mary Katheryn Marriott, 81, Excelsior Springs, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Nov. 2, 2008, at her home with her husband and family by her side. Mary Katheryn was born the daughter of John William and Elizabeth (Loftin) Elliott on April 5, 1927. Mary had lived most of her lifetime in Clay County, Mo. On Nov. 4, 1949, Mary was united in marriage to Floyd Marriott of Excelsior Springs, Mo. Mary was a member of the Mosby Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs Baptist Church and the Union Baptist Church. Mary worked for the Clay County Election Board as a Republican. She belonged to the Eastern Star and she and Floyd enjoyed retirement camping. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mabel; brothers, Cecil and John J.; and daughter-in-law, Marie Marriott. A loving wife, mother and grandma, Mary Katheryn is survived by her husband, Floyd Fredrick, and son, Ronald Floyd, of the home; daughter, Katheryn Louise and husband, Billy Joe Goode, Orrick, Mo.; son, Richard Wayne Marriott and partner, Terry Propst, Dallas, Texas; and three grandchildren, Veronica Rin and husband, Bill Marriott, Emily Katheryn and husband, Jon Wright, and Britt Joseph Good and fiancée Chelsea Street. Gertude McDaniel
Gertrude Frances (Hamilton) McDaniel, 96, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at her home. Ms. McDaniel was born July 9, 1912, in Smithville, the daughter of Walter William and Opal Myrtle (Wilkerson) Hamilton. She was married to Calvin C. McDaniel on Sept. 9, 1953; he preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1993. Mrs. McDaniel was a member of the Smithville Christian Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include four children, Amelia Fern Oliver, Excelsior Springs, Charlene Edwards, Fort Mitchell, Ala., and Walter "Butch" Sympson and Sharon Teegarden, both of Excelsior Springs; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. "Marty" McGowan
George M. "Marty" McGowan, 68, Liberty, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at his home. Mr. McGowan was born June 28, 1940, in Centralia, Ill., the son of George and Ruth (Holman) McGowan. The family moved to Claycomo in 1947. He was married to Beete Myers on Sept. 6, 1974. He owned Marty's Disposal from 1958 to 1975, then later owned Marty's Transportation from 1975 until his retirement in 2007. Survivors include his wife, Bette McGowan; two sons, Larry McGowan and Terry McGowan; two brothers, Lew McGowan and Rich McGowan; a sister, Dorothy Kay Carmichael; and five grandchildren. Bobby Neely
Bobby R. Neely, 80, Richmond, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Neely was born March 28, 1928, in Independence, the son of Murrell Mose and Emma Lou (Phelps) Neely. He was married to Alice J. Pickard on Aug. 12, 1948. He was a supervisor for the Missouri State Highway Department for 47 years before he retired in 1990. He lived in Blue Springs before he moved to Richmond in 1968. He was a member of the Richmond United Christian Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Alice Neely, of the home; two sons, Brent Neely, Kansas City, and Brian Neely, Liberty; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Sheila Payne
Sheila Ruth Payne, 62, Richmond, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond. Ms. Payne was born Sept. 15, 1946, in Phoenix, , the daughter of Julius Donald and Margaret Lenora (Tollison) Womack. She was married to Donald L. Payne. They attended Richmond Assembly of God and Victory Community Chapel. She worked in housekeeping at Ray County Memorial Hospital for eight years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; and her granddaughter, Nikki Miller. David Peppers
David Lee Peppers, 52, Liberty, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at his home after a short battle with lung cancer. Mr. Peppers worked for General Mills from 1988 to 2004, then worked for Kellogg1s since 2005. Survivors include his wife, Melanie; two children, Kyle and Ryan; and other relatives. Lyle Pinick
Lyle Edward Pinick, 77, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Shawnee Gardens of Overland Park, Kan. Mr. Pinick was born March 30, 1931, on a farm near Onaga, Kan., the son of Edward Andrew and Ellen (Middleton) Pinick. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Shirley, on Sept. 8, 1951. He and his family attended St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Kansas City. He was an accountant, retiring in 1996 as controller for Hohenschild Welder Supply Co. He also served as a tax consultant and was a retail clerk at several Parkview Drug locations for many years. He also had a passion for antiques, and later ran a large booth at the Liberty Antique Mall. Later in life, he co-purchased and restored Lightburne Hall, a 16-room antebellum mansion in Liberty. He spent years refurbishing the home, previously destined for demolition, and eventually it was placed on the register of historic places in Clay County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wallace. Survivors include four siblings, Eldon Pinick, Edwin Pinick, Agnes Murdock and Marcella Casey; his children, Katie Cecil, Mark Pinick, Michael Pinick, Martha Fitzsimmons and Matthew Pinick; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at McGilley Midtown Chapel in Kansas City, with a friendship gathering following until 3 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church; private inurnment will be held at a later date in Wamego, Kan. Carol Ann Poje, 60, Liberty, Mo. (formerly of Kansas City, Kan.), died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at Liberty Hospital. "Bill" Rose
William M. Rose, 67, died from pulmonary disease on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, in Plano, Texas. Mr. Rose was born in Excelsior Springs, Mo., on July 8, 1941, the son of James Merritt and Frances Louise Rose. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School, where he was All Conference and All District in basketball, in 1959. He played basketball his freshman year at Central Missouri State, then transferred to the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he attained his master's degree in economics.  He is survived by two brothers, Jim Rose, Lawrence, Kan., and John Rose, Plano, Texas; and his sister, Betty Brooks, Albuquerque, N.M.  A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Mo.

Anthony Scoma Sr.
Anthony John Scoma Sr., 78, Rayville, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at his home. Mr. Scoma was born July 28, 1930, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Carmelo Joe and Josephine (Bono) Scoma. He was married to Betty Jean Barry on Jan. 22, 1947; she survives, of the home. He had been employed by Englander Mattress Company before going to work for Ford Motor Company in Dallas. He worked there until 1959, when he was transferred to the Claycomo plant in Kansas City, from which he retired after 30 years. For the past seven years he had worked as a door greeter at Wal-Mart in Richmond. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Richmond. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Scoma Jr. and Michael Scoma; five brothers; and one sister. David F. Simmons
David F. "Coach" Simmons, 77, Raytown, Mo. (formerly of Richmond, Mo.), died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008. Mr. Simmons was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Moberly, the son of Virgil and Gwen (Jones) Simmons. He was married to Carolyne (Carrie) Lawrence on Jan. 21, 1954. He had been a platoon sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, then earned bachelor's and master's degrees before going into education. He began his teaching career at Marshall High School, teaching math and coaching football. He then moved to Norborne High School, where he was the principal and counselor, and also coached football, basketball and track. He finished his career at Richmond High School, counseling, coaching football and basketball and starting the golf program. He was the assistant head coach of the 1971 state champion football team. He also served as music director at the First Baptist Church of Norborne and the First Baptist Church of Richmond, where he also served as a deacon and trustee of the church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy; and a brother, P.J. Survivors include his wife, Carrie Simmons; two sons, Jeffrey Simmons, Raytown, and Russell Simmons, Overland Park, Kan.; and six grandchildren, Jason, Chelsea and Nathan, all of Raytown, and Riley, Devyn and Blake, all of Overland Park. Bruce Stockton
Bruce Barton Stockton, 73, Richmond, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Stockton was born Feb. 1, 1935, in Ray County, the son of John William and Nellie Mae (Eason) Stockton. He was married to Wanda Lou Brown. He was later married to Agnes Lou Hyatt, who preceded him in death in 1995. He was a lifelong resident of Ray County. He was employed through the Local #101 Union Operating Engineers, operating bulldozers and other heavy equipment. He worked in various locations and retired in 1994 after 47 years. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Stockton and Mark Stockton Sr. Survivors include three sons, Bruce E. Stockton, Richmond, Bobby W. Stockton, Rayville, and Terry D. Stockton, Richmond; one daughter, Lawanda K. Chandler, Lathrop; one sister, Bonnie Pool, Richland Hills, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Mary Stoufer
Mary Louise Stoufer, 72, Lawson, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at the Lawson Manor & Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Stoufer was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Excelsior Springs, the daughter of Otto H. and Mary (Creasey) Stoufer. She was a member of the Lawson Baptist Church. Mary was preceded in death by her parents. "Joe" Truesdale
Joel "Joe" Truesdale, 64, Liberty, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty.

Tobin Van Dyne
Tobin Daniel Van Dyne, 41, Liberty, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at his home. Mr. Van Dyne was born Dec. 22, 1966, in Sedalia, the son of Dick and Patricia "Penny" Fontaine Van Dyne. They moved to Kearney when he was 10 years old. He was married to Amy Parker on Feb. 2, 1990, and had lived in Liberty for the past six years. He was currently employed as a conductor for Union Pacific Railroad, and had been in the United States Army Reserve since 1987. At the time of his death he held the rank of staff sergeant and was attached to the 139th Medical Group. He had served in Korea, Germany and Kosovo and had earned numerous military honors. Survivors include his wife, Amy, and son, Tyler, both of the home; his mother, Penny Van Dyne, Liberty; his father and stepmother, Dick and Lori Van Dyne, Kansas City; and four brothers, Sean Van Dyne, Excelsior springs, Yale Van Dyne, Johnson County, Kan., and Brennan Van Dyne and Dylan Van Dyne, both of Liberty. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Kearney. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at the church; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kearney. Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorial contributions may be made to Amy Van Dyne for college expenses for Tobin1s son, Tyler.

Taylor Vannattan Jr.
Taylor Eugene Vannattan Jr, 53, Richmond, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Vannattan was born Jan. 11, 1955, in Kansas City, the son of Taylor Eugene and Catherine Laurine (Hamilton) Vannattan Sr. He was married to Donna Jean White on July 16, 1977; she survives. He worked for various places, including working for Gary Arnett for several years and also for Kramer's Chair Company for two years before his health failed. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Taylor E. Vannattan III, Richmond; one daughter, Melinda Sue Vannattan, Richmond; one sister, Susie Langdon, Rayville; one brother, Rocky Vannattan, Richmond; six grandchildren; and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Polley Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Crowley Cemetery at Rayville. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Taylor Vannattan Jr. Memorial Fund, in care of Polley Funeral Home, 122 W. *David Wells
David French Wells, 63, of Albany, Mo., passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Albany. David, the son of Elmer Edward "Tiny" and Helen Lucille (DeFever) Wells, was born June 9, 1945, in Sedan, Kan. On Aug. 19, 1977, Dave was united in marriage to Ruth Ann "Freddie" Duvall. To this union two sons were born, Gordon and Alexander. For 37 years, Dave served as a conservation agent for the Missouri Department of Conservation. He retired Dec. 1, 2007. Dave was a devoted husband and father, but more than that, he devoted his life to the conservation of the earth's resources. He believed that educating people about how to be good stewards of the environment was the best way to preserve the planet. Those efforts will be missed, but those he educated will carry on the cause. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann "Freddie" Duvall Wells, of the home; sons, Gordon Wells, St. Joseph, Mo., and Alexander Wells, Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Richard (Karen) Wells, Garnett, Kan.; brothers-in-law, David L. (Shanda) Duvall, Maryville, Mo., and Lonnie P. (Deborah) Duvall, Columbia, S.C.; sister-in-law, Helen D. Neese, Nashville, Tenn.; nieces, Julie Wells and Susan Wildeman; nephews, Rich Wells, Robert Duvall, Pell Duvall, Tim Duvall, Kevin Duvall, Robert Neese and Benjamin Neese; and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at the United Methodist Church, 302 N. Smith St., Albany, with burial in the Grandview Cemetery, Albany. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at the United Methodist Church in Albany. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Roberson-Polley Chapel in Albany. "Gene" Wholf
Morrice Eugene "Gene" Wholf, 61, Raymore, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, in Richmond, Mo. Mr. Wholf was an Army veteran, a member of the American Legion and a trustee at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; son, Brian; daughter, Jennifer Nichols; sisters, Delores Creason and Beverly Branham; and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Raymore. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at Orrick United Methodist Church in Orrick, with burial in Riffe Cemetery, Orrick. Arrangements are through Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Methodist Church.
