Jeffery Adams
Jeffery Ray “Puff” Adams, 51, Richmond, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond. Mr. Adams was born Nov. 27, 1957, in Richmond, the son of Charles Ray and Carlo Jean (Seward) Adams. He was married to Diana Lynne Essig on Aug. 25, 1978; she survives of the home. He was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Richmond. He was past president of the Richmond Little League Baseball Program. He been the Ray County Presiding Commissioner since 2002. He served on the Mid-America Regional Council for Presiding Commissioners Board, Ray County’s 911 Board, Ray County’s Rural Fire Department Board, and Ray County’s Planning and Zoning Board. He was co-owner of Adams and Howell Floor Covering in Richmond. He was a lifelong Richmond resident. Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Charlie” Ray Adams. In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother, Jeanie Adams, Richmond; two daughters, Courtney Lynne Adams and Natalie Rae Adams, both of the home; three sisters, Janet Daugherty, Regina Persell and Angela Hambrick, all of Richmond; and one granddaughter. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Faith Lutheran Church in Richmond. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Richmond High School Athletics or the Jeffery R. Adams Memorial Fund.
Bobby Anderson Jr.
Bobby Wayne Anderson Jr., 52, Richmond, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, in Lexington, Mo. Mr. Anderson was born Nov. 19, 1956, in Lexington, the son of Bobby Wayne Sr. and Mary Laverne (Richardson) Anderson. He was married to Cathy Mary Santaniello on Sept. 25, 2000; she survives. He worked in construction as a pile driver and carpenter, having been employed by Massman Construction, L.G. Barcus Construction and Berkel Construction. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his grandparents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Anderson, on May 10, 2006. In addition to his wife, survivors include his parents, of Richmond; four stepchildren, Melissa Jo Bisogno, Spring Hill, Kan., Joe Bisogno, Kansas City, Bridgette Bisogno, San Diego, Calif., and Nick Bisogno, DeSoto, Kan.; two sisters, Doris Strickler, Lexington, and Charissa Bebout, Richmond; and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Polley Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation.
Phyllis Anderson
Phyllis Anne Anderson, 74, Lawson, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Anderson was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Eureka, Kan., the daughter of Glenn August and Neva Estella (Thompson) Levieux. She was married to William J. Anderson on Aug. 24, 1954; he survives. They lived in various places, including their home in Lawson for the past 43 years. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents. In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Schwartz, Omaha, Neb., and Vicki Dolt, Smithville, Mo.; two sons, Steven Anderson, Lawson, and David Anderson, Buffalo, Mo.; one brother, Donald Levieux, Eureka, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A graveside committal service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Lawson Cemetery in Lawson. There is no public visitation. Cremation. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Lawson. Memorial contributions may be made to Excelsior Springs Hospice.
Tony Anthony
Ernest G. “Tony” Anthony, 72, Independence, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009. Mr. Anthony was born April 5, 1937, in Knox City, the son of John and Ethel Claire Davis Anthony. He retired from KAW Valley Sand and Gravel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Deana Heavner Anthony, of the home; and sisters, Clara Pulse, Betty Shannon and Geraldine Burr. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesay, Aug. 26, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Kansas City. Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney.
Marjorie Bartle
Marjorie G. Bartle, 88, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo. Survivors include a son, Dwight Porter, Excelsior Springs; and a sister, Janice Cockrill, North Kansas City. Memorial services were set for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone.
Norma Bauman
Norma Vivian Bauman, 93, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009. She retired from Sterams Department Store in New York, then moved to Kansas City, Mo., in 1998 to live with her son. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Bauman; son, Edward Bauman Jr.; brother, John Olsen; sister, Eileen Bailey; and grandson. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Bauman, Kansas City, and Wesley Bauman, Levittown, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held Thursday, Aug. 20, at Arley United Methodist Church in Kearney. Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney.
Bill Bennett
George William “Bill” Bennett, 74, Kearney, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at his home after a 14-year struggle with multiple myeloma. Mr. Bennett was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Kansas City, the son of Harry E. and Eunice Bennett. He worked in engineering and marketing for Missouri Gas Energy for 34 years before he retired on May 1, 1992. He was married to Judy Babb on Nov. 27, 1963, and they lived in Liberty. After retirement, they lived at the Lake of the Ozarks for seven years before moving to Kearney in 2002. Survivors include his wife, Judy Bennett; daughter, Kim Kirkendoll; sister, Mary Lou Olson; and one granddaughter.Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Fry-Bross &Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, with graveside services at 11:30 a.m.Saturday at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty.Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital or theAmerican Cancer Society.
Keli Borchert
Keli Jenea (Gehrs) Borchert, 42, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at her home. Ms. Borchert was born June 23, 1967, in Kansas City, the daughter of Kenneth Ray and JoAnn (Svejda) Gehrs. She worked in various employments, including at Home Depot in Liberty, selling Trane systems until her health failed. She was a member of Gospel Lighthouse Church in Excelsior Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include a daughter, Darcie Smith, Excelsior Springs; one sister, Kim Ashworth, Excelsior Springs; and two brothers, Mark Gehrs, San Antonio, Texas, and Mike Gehrs, California. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 13, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will follow until 8 p.m. Cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to a fund to benefit Keli’s daughter, Darcie Smith.

Linda K. Boyle, 64, Liberty, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial was set for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Smithville. Visitation was held Thursday at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
Bobby Cameron
Bobby A. Cameron, 77, Pittsburg, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2009, at his home. Mr. Cameron was born April 5, 1932, in Knoxville, Mo., the son of John Robert and Evelyn Cameron. He graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. After returning to Kansas city he worked for TWA until his retirement in August 1990. Seven of his 34 years at TWA were on loan to Saudi Arabian Airlines. He was also an avid RC airplane flyer. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Virginia Nadine, of the home; a son, Randy (Fina) Cameron, Springfield; two daughters, Mary (Dan) Duddy, Kansas City, and Lynnette (Rick) Malone, Parkville; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, at Hathaway-Peterman Funeral Home in Wheatland, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to CMH Hospice, 1500 N. Oakland, Bolivar, MO 65613.
Jim Carder
James Brent “Jim” Carder, 54, Terre Haute, Ind. (formerly of Lee’s Summit, M0.), died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Union Hospital in Terre Haute. Mr. Carder was born May 30, 1955, in Excelsior Springs, Mo., the son of Glenn and Eula Vena (Childress) Carder. He was a 1973 graduate of Excelsior Springs High School. He was married to Jennifer Kay Callaway on July 5, 1974; she survives of the home. He had worked for Coates Construction, Vanderpool Feed, Green Quarries and for several years worked with his father and uncles in Farmer’s Feed & Supply in Excelsior Springs, MO. He had been employed with Pfizer Corporation for more than 30 years working at Lee’s Summit from 1975 to 2006 before transferring to Terre Haute, where they lived for the past three years. He was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to his wife, survivors include a brother, Kerry Karder, Edwards; one aunt, Ina Northcraft, Warrensburg; two special sisters-in-law, Jeanie Callaway and Jill Morse, both of Excelsior Springs; and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Way or the American Diabetes Association.
Sandra Cartee
Sandra Louise Cartee, 70, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. Mrs. Cartee was born June 29, 1939, in Kansas City. She was married to John W. Cartee on Jan. 18, 1958. She was a longtime member of the Gladstone Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe W. Newsman. Survivors include her husband, John Cartee; her mother, Louise Trek; one brother, Donald Newsman; two sons, John W. Cartee II and Scott W. Cartee; one daughter, Lynn R. Cartee; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney, with visitation from 2 to 3 p.m.

Jimmie Dolt
Jimmie Lee Dolt, 60, Blue Springs, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, after an eight-month battle with cancer. Mr. Dolt was born July 12, 1949, the son of Lloyd and Vera Dolt. He was married to Carol Wilken 27 years ago. He worked in the grocery business most of his life, including the last decade with Cosentino's Food Stores. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Independence. Survivors include two children, Christopher Dolt and Meagan Pierce and her husband, Tony; two other children by another marriage, Stacey Dolt Loughrey and her husband, Mike, and Dana Dolt; two younger brothers, Gene Dolt, Lawson, and Herman Dolt, Los Angeles, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Austin and Haylyn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at St. Mark Catholic Church, with Fr. James Taranto as celebrant. Rev. Fred Dowell
Rev. Fred Wilson Dowell, 75, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at Ashton Court Care Center in Liberty, Mo. The Rev. Dowell was born April 13, 1934, in Ft. Lyons, Colo., the son of Fred D. and Linnie A. (Wilson) Dowell. He was married to Elizabeth Rosalie Kochanowski on Dec. 8, 1951. He was a missionary pastor, starting and assisting various churches in Texas, Virginia, Kansas and Missouri. For more than 15 years he served as minister of Marietta Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clarence Jenkins. Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; two daughters, Cynthia Bean, Kansas City, and Tamara Hewlitt, Osage Beach; two sons, Fred Dowell Jr. and Frank Dowell, both of Springfield, Va.; one sister, Betty Kay Dukovitch, Kansas City; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Flack Memorial Christian Union Church in Excelsior Springs. Burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. James Vincent Downs, 87, of Grain Valley, Mo., passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Monterey Park Nursing Home in Independence, Mo. Jim was born on Jan. 22, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo., to John Joseph and Mary Walsh Downs, Irish immigrants. He graduated from Paseo High School in 1940. Jim served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps at Fort Leavenworth and in the 63rd Infantry Division in Germany during World War II. He was employed by Metropolitan Life and retired after 28 years. Jim enjoyed fishing and was an avid Royals fan who always listened to their games. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 138, sponsored by Jackson Avenue and Bader Memorial Christian Churches, and was an Honorary Warrior of Mic-O-Say. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marie Emhoff and Margaret Smith; one brother, Jack Downs; and one grandson, Brian James Downs. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Helen Downs; a brother, Thomas Downs and his wife, Claudia; and a sister, Theresa Hagan. He also leaves a daughter, Linda Jeter and her husband, David; and a son, Larry Downs and his wife, Linda. Jim is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Sheri Brown, husband Neal, and their children, Mia and Diamond Brown; Robert Jeter, wife Lisa, and their children Elizabeth, Everett and Grant Jeter; Darren Jeter and wife, Tabatha; Christopher Downs; Tracy Carbah, husband Dean, and their son Vincent Carbah; Nicole Downs; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens in Grain Valley. Mildred Eberting
Mildred Eberting, 91, Liberty, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at her home. Ms. Eberting was born Nov. 14, 1917, in Appleton City, the daughter of W.E. “Curley” and Mabel McElhaney. She retired from the Gas Service Company in Liberty after 25 years of service. She attended Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Eberting. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Buckley, Liberty; two sons, Wayne Eberting, Cameron, and Jerrell Eberting, Liberty; one brother, Kent McElhaney, Liberty; three granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty, with graveside services at 2 p.m. Monday at Appleton City Cemetery. Friends called from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel in Liberty.

Benjamin Eckersley, 60, Lathrop, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009. Benjamin was born March 20, 1949, in Kansas City, Mo., to Clayton and Ida Hughes Eckersley. He was a sergeant in the Marine Corps and a Vietnam veteran. He worked construction. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother, Ida Eckersley, Excelsior Springs; children, Ticey Acosta, Jacksonville, Fla., and Kristina Acosta, Bruce Eckersley and Benjamin Scott Eckersley, all of Kansas City, Mo.; brothers, Daniel Eckersley, Excelsior Springs, Tom Eckersley, Salt Lake City, Utah, Chris Eckersley, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mike Walden, Kansas City, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Kayla, Alexis and Rosa. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Friends were invited to call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kan.

Larry Ray Fisk, 67, of Wood Heights, Mo., passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Fisk was born April 5, 1942, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Luzerne and Clara Mildred (Webber) Fisk. On June 18, 1966, at Cocoa, Fla., he was married to Clare Adele McCrea, who survives. Also surviving are seven children, Jackie Muto and husband, Tony, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Chris Fisk and wife, Anna, of Raymore, Mo., Steve Fisk and wife, Shelby, of Stansbury Park, Utah, Katie Peterson and husband, Dan, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jon Fisk and wife, Marcy, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Robert Fisk and wife, Christina, of Fairway, Kan., and Mark Fisk and wife, Jennifer, of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; one sister, Laverne Lang of Indianapolis, Ind.; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lois Mildred Thompson. Mr. Fisk was employed by TWA and American Airlines with more than 45 years of service. He was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Boy Scouts. His enjoyment of reading on a wide variety of subjects made him a great resource and counselor to his children. He loved and gave all he could to his wife and children. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 13109 Hwy. O in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Burial will be in Polley Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Sandra Franklin
Sandra Lee Franklin, 63, Orrick, Mo., died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, in Richmond, Mo. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Gowing Chapel in Orrick. Cremation will follow, with inurnment at a later date in Chenoa, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
Dr. Don Gilmore
Dr. Don F. Gilmore, DVM, 94, Excelsior Springs, Mo. (formerly of Brookville, Ind.), died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009. Dr. Gilmore was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Piqua, Ohio, the son of Don F. and Edith Gilmore. He was a member of the Lawson Assembly of God Church. He practiced veterinary medicine in Brookville, Ind. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann. Survivors include two sons, George Gilmore, Excelsior Springs, and Jeff Gilmore, Liberty; and three grandchildren. Cremation. Private services will be held at a later date. Charles Guthrie
Charles Durbin Guthrie, 60, Wayne, Mich., died Dec. 2, 2008, at his home. Mr. Guthrie was born Aug.12, 1948, in Highland Park, Mich., the son of Robert W. and Ollie N. (Ward) Guthrie. Mr. Guthrie was a lifelong resident of Michigan and had been employed by Ford Motor Company for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Phyllis Guthrie. Survivors include one son, Ronald Guthrie, Wood Heights; one daughter, Christine Estronza, Hamburg, Mich.; two brothers, Robert Guthrie, Los Angeles, Calif., and William Guthrie, Las Vegas, Nev.; and six grandchildren. Carl Hineborg
Carl F. Hineborg, 77, Kearney, Mo., died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009. Mr. Hineborg was born Dec. 18, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisc., the son of John and Anna Hineborg. He was a customer service engineer for IBM. He was a member of Arley United Methodist Church in Kearney. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; two daughters, Linda K. Gibbons, Earlysville, Va., and Susan R. Hineborg, Kearney; a son, Kevin C. Hineborg, Olive Branch, Miss.; a brother, James R. Hineborg, Evansville, Ind.; and six grandchildren. Donald Keith Jenkins, 53, Kansas City, Mo., died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009. Mr. Jenkins was born April 8, 1956, in Kansas City. He worked at Hallmark Cards for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Jenkins; and a sister, Kim Renee Jenkins. He was a lifelong resident of Orrick, and graduated from Orrick in May 2009. He was employed by Jettline Nursery and Landscaping in Excelsior Springs. Harold McCullough
Harold E. McCullough, 91, Kearney, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Mo. Mr. McCullough was born Nov. 6, 1917, in Arnett, Okla., the son of John M. and Ora Weeks McCullough. He retired from the Social Security Administration. He was a longtime resident of Missouri, spending years of his life in Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Jane Houghton McCullough. Survivors include three chidren, Carla Johnson, Terry McCullough and Ethel “Lora” Dickerson; five brothers, John McCullough, Victor McCullough, Phillip McCulloug, Paul McCullough and Joe McCullough; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Leota McKnight
Leota Roberta McKnight, 89, Pendleton, Ore., died Friday, Aug. 7, at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton. Ms. McKnight was born June 12, 1920, in Vibbard, Mo., the daughter of Robert and Lota Gabbert. She graduated from Excelsior Springs (Mo.) High School in 1937. She was married to Leo Ralph McKnight on Aug. 3, 1942; they were divorced in 1971. She taught for eight years, then worked for the Production Credit Association before starting a career with the U.S. Forest Service in 1962. She worked at the Rio Grande National Forest at Monte Vista, Colo., the Regional Office in San Francisco, Calif., the Forest Service National Office in Washington D.C., and the Umatilla National Forest in Pendleton, Ore. She retired on Jan. 4, 1984. She remained in Pendleton until her death. She was a longtime member of the Grace Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Survivors include three sons, Glen McKnight, Durango, Colo., Gary McKnight, Farmington, N.M., and Mark McKnight, Pendleton, Ore.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Grace Baptist Church in Pendleton, Ore. Interment will be held at Auburn Public Cemetery in Auburn, Calif. Andy McMillan Jr.
Andrew “Andy” McMillan Jr., 66, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at his home. Mr. McMillan was born Jan. 23, 1943, in Pompton Lakes, N.J., the son of Andrew and Ruth Naomi (Davenport) McMillan Sr. He was married to Linda Mae LaMar on March 7, 1987; she survives. He was employed by Ford Motor Company for 38 years before he retired in 2006. He had transferred to the Claycomo plant in 1984. He was a member of the Rose of Sharon Pentecostal Church of God in Kansas City, and attended Messenger Chapel in Richmond. He had also served as a volunteer firefighter in Sussex County, N.J. He was preceded in death by his parents. In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Jordan McMillan, of the home, Paula Guzman, Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Tabitha Stanley and Tonya Simpson, both of Chilhowee; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at the Rose Of Sharon Pentecostal Church of God, 9621 E. 38th St., Kansas City. Burial will be in California City Cemetery in California, Mo., with a committal service there at 2 p.m. Thursday. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Barbara Lea Murray, 80, Kansas City, Mo., died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009. Ms. Murray was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Curtis E. Hammond and Jesse Murray; one son, Randall Hammond; three brothers, Charles Skinner, Billy Gray and Kenny Gray; one sister, Rosemary Greer; and one grandson. Survivors include six children, Rickland Hammond, Lone Jack, Rita Neselroad, Lawson, Richard Hammon, Ronald Hammond and Ronnie Murray, all of Independence, and Bobby Murray, Belton; three sisters, Donna Doyle, Freda Burnett and Fran Krysek; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. “Ole” Olson
Hubert C. “Ole” Olson, 72, Gladstone, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at his home after a brief battle with brain cancer. Mr. Olson was born Dec. 5, 1936, in Moorhead, Minn., the son of Roy and Eda Ellingson Olson. He was a civil/structural engineer with Butler Manufacturing for more than 39 years before he retired in 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the home; six sons, Steven Olson, Sierra Vista, Ariz., Timothy Olson, Peoria, Ariz., David Campbell, Excelsior Springs, Mo., Mark Brewer, Gladstone, Curtis Cassotis, Greensboro, N.C., and Darren Thomas, Bowmanstown, Pa.; one daughter, Dina Sturges, Gladstone; one brother, Gerald Olson, West Fargo, N.D.; two sisters, Ruth Habemeister, Fargo, N.D., and Janice Dahl, White Bear Lake, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. His body was donated to a medical school. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Kansas City. Dennis Teuman Randall, age 63, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and an United Auto Worker Local 249 retiree, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at the KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at the Church of the Nazarene, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; friends may call anytime after noon Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Church of the Nazarene. He was born on Jan. 20, 1946, to Teuman and Loretta Douglas Randall in Sisseton, S.D., and lived and attended schools in Woonsocket and Roslyn, S.D. He was a good athlete and a starter on the football and basketball teams. He married his high school sweetheart, Noreen Hemmah, on June 16, 1966, and to this union two sons were born. They lived for a short time in Yankton, S.D., before moving permanently to Missouri. He worked for the Ford assembly plant in Claycomo for 31 years, retiring in 2000. He was an avid sports fan, Chiefs season ticket holder and KU basketball fan, and loved attending his grandsons’ sporting events. He enjoyed spending time each summer at his family’s cabin on Pickeral Lake in South Dakota. He and Noreen helped raise several of their sons’ friends and also spent the last two years fostering animals for the Excelsior Springs Friends of Animals. He and Noreen regularly attended the Church of the Nazarene in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Preceding him in death were his parents and two half-brothers, Gary Randall and Ed Frey. He is survived by his wife, Noreen, of the home; sons; Brad and Carrie Shea Randall and Brian and Sherri Findley Randall; one sister-in-law, Rosie Randall; grandchildren, Nash, Zack, Max and Natalie; brother, Troy and Carole Randall, Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Lee Ann Gillette and Karen and Tom Kerrick, both of Wyoming, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. Blessed be his memory.

Sarah Elizabeth Seek, 91, Wheatland, Mo. (formerly of Richmond, Mo.), died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Mrs. Seek was born May 10, 1918, in Clarksville, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Jane (Laird) Grace. She was married to Roscoe James Seek on Dec. 27, 1958; he preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1996. She raised her family and lived in Ray County until she moved to Wheatland five years ago. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Robert Melton, in 2005; five sisters; and one brother. Survivors include a son, Rocky Seek Sr., Urbana; two daughters, Bobby Jean Melton and JoAnn Melton; three stepdaughters, Betty Yates, Chillicothe, and Ruth Seek and Margaret Ann Seek, both of Carrollton; and two grandsons. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the Crowley Cemetery in Rayville. There is no public visitation scheduled. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Richmond.

Rosen C. Scobee, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009. Mr. Scobee was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Greencastle, Mo. He was married to Kathleen Knutter and they moved to Excelsior Springs to raise their family. He was employed at Ford Motor Company and retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Excelsior Springs Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Carl and Bessie Scobee, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Buster Scobee, Jack Scobee and Junior Scobee; and one sister, Emogene Lewis. Mary J. Smoyer, 87, Kansas City, Kan., died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at Presbyterian Manor. Mrs. Smoyer was born in Newton County, Ark., and had lived in the Kansas City area for most of her life. She was a line worker for Sunshine Biscuit for 25 years. She was a member of Gladstone Fellowship. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lee Flippo; a brother, Velma Campbell; and two sisters, Alice Dicks and Frances Perkins. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Robert W. M. Kathleen “Kay” Spor, 86, passed away Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, at her home in Prathersville, Mo. Mrs. Spor was born Aug. 29, 1922, in Camden, Mo., the daughter of Oscar and Veta (Booth) Yallaly. On Dec. 6, 1941, she was married to Jacob Wallace Spor of Missouri City. Mrs. Spor was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of Prathersville Bible Church for more than 50 years. She was a youth leader, choir director, Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. For many years she was also treasurer of Prathersville Village Council. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Roberta Yallaly and Fern Lillard; one brother, Harold Yallaly; and a great-great-grandson, Rowan Adan. Survivors include one son, Eugene Spor, Excelsior Springs; four daughters and their husbands, Carol and Bill North, Lyons, Ore., Judy and David Anderson, Bowling Green, Ky., Joy and Bob Anderson, Richfield, Ohio, and Connie and John Freeman of Paola, Kan.; two brothers, Ralph Yallaly, Smithville, and Dorris Yallaly, Lexington; one sister, Betty Gowing, Richmond; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Milton “Junior” Teegarden, 74, Holt, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at the Cameron Veterans Home in Cameron after a battle with Alzheimer’s. Mr. Teegarden was born May 18, 1935, in Birmingham, the son of Milton and Lillie Lowman Teegarden. He was a warehouse foreman and a farmer. He attended First United Methodist Church in Kearney. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Teegarden Conley and Peggy Teegarden Hutchinson. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Teegarden, of the home; sons, Milton Boyd Teegarden, Michael Scott McAtee and Matthew C. “Bob” Weagley Jr.
Robert “Bob” Weagley Jr., 90, Liberty, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at Lenoir Woods in Columbia, Mo. Mr. Weagley was born June 12, 1919, in Kearney, the son of Robert L. and Lela (Sims) Weagley. He was a member of Liberty Christian Church. He owned Weagley Aluminum Sales for 26 years and served several terms on the Liberty City Council, including one as mayor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Margaret Davidson; a brother, Glenn Weagley; and two sisters, Ruby Robb and Louise Hayes. Survivors include one son, Robert Weagley, Columbia; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Liberty Christian Church. Martha Maryann Wilson, 62, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo. Ms. Wilson was born Oct. 28, 1946, in Richmond, the daughter of Gerald and Jessie Millentree) Wilson. She lived in Excelsior Springs all her life. She worked at Excelsior Springs Medical Center as a nurse’s aide for many years. She also worked at Tredegar. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandmother, Artie Mae Millentree. Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Haylock, Independence; a sister, Minnie Millentree, Kansas City; two brothers, Mitchell Wilson, Atlanta, Ga., and Lee Wilson, Excelsior Springs; and her companion, Ruben Pena, of the home. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 15, at Main Street Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services, also at the church. Cremation.
