Rev. Robert Allen
Rev. Robert R. Allen, 84, Raymore, Mo., died Sunday, June 20, 2010. Rev. Allen was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Corning, Iowa, the son of Cecil and Mae Allen. He was married to Charlotte Spainhower on May 22, 1948. He was a minister at numerous Christian (Disciples of Christ) churches and also was a missionary in the Philippines. After retiring in 1990, he served as interim pastor at several churches, including Woods Memorial Christian Church in Excelsior Springs in the mid-1990s. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Allen. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Allen, of the home; three sons, David Allen, Tucson, Ariz., Jon Allen, St. Joseph, and Steve Allen, Blue Springs; three sisters, Lois Scott, Salinas, Calif., Ruth Whitaker, Clarinda, Iowa, and Betty Cerven, Weldon, Iowa; and seven grandchildren. A celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at Raymore Christian Church. Arrangements are through Cremation Society of Kansas and Missouri. William Beaman
William A. Beaman, 78, Kearney, Mo., died Sunday, June 13, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Charter Funerals Northland Chapel in Gladstone, where visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 15. Burial in Brooking Cemetery in Raytown.

Kenneth R. Beavers, 80, of Holden, Mo. died Friday, June 4, 20101 at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City. Masonic services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden, Mo. immdiately followed by the funeral service. Interment will be in Pisgah Cemetery.


David Beckwith
David Eugene Beckwith, 61, Independence, Mo., died Monday, June 14, 2010, at his home. Mr. Beckwith was born Jan. 31, 1949, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Henry Milton “H.M.” and Edith (Bussler) Beckwith. He was employed by Massey Ferguson as a sales manager for 20 years, and later worked for Liberty Terrace Care Center. He was a member of New Life Family Ministries in Excelsior Springs. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Daniel Gene Beckwith; his second wife, Barbara Gail (Holland) Beckwith, in 2007; and his father. Survivors include his sons, Brian D. Beckwith, Chris D. Beckwith and Kevin P. Beckwith, all of the Kansas City area; his mother, Edith Beckwith, Mitchellville, Iowa; his sister, Jean Beckwith, Mitchellville, Iowa; and four grandchildren.A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at New Life Family Ministries in Excelsior Springs. Visitaiton will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Inurnment in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Arrangements are through Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence. Rodney Lee Berggren, 48, Independence, Mo. passed away, June 5, 2010. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, at DW Newcomer’s Sons, Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd., Independence, Mo.

Roxanne A. Brooks, 52, Independence, Mo., died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at her home. Ms. Brooks was born Aug. 29, 1957, in Michigan, the daughter of Henry and Leona Metts. She worked as a CNA for Maywood Terrace Living Center in Independence. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Survivors include two sons, Robert VanOster, Richmond, and Michael Vanoster; one sister, Debbie; and one brother, Mark Metts. Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 25, at Polley Funeral Home in Richmond, Mo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roxanne Brooks Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.

Waneta Burris
Waneta M. Burris, 92, Lexington, Mo., died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Lafayette Regional Health Center in Lexington. Ms. Burris was born Feb. 11, 1918, in Olga, Kan., the daughter of Christopher H. and Frieda M. Mohr Schwindt. She was married to Richard H. Burris; he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1958. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. In addition to her husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by four children, Paula Ray Bennett, Richard George Burris, Jacklyn Burris, and Max Eugene Burris; four brothers, John, Bill, Jim and Chris; and two sisters, Ikey and Ann. Survivors include three children, Patricia Shane, Mission, Kan., Julia Schoonover, Richmond, and Bonnie Melton, Lexington; one sister, Beulah Ellison, Ogden, Utah; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. At her request, there will be no services. Arrangements are through Walker-Nadler-Fuller Funeral Home, Lexington.

Frances Carl
Frances E. Carl, 96, died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Golden Living Center in Smithville, Mo. Ms. Carl was born Aug. 5, 1913, in Sun City, Kan., and lived in Colorado from 1937 until recently. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; her husbands, Everett Watts and Jack Carl; son, Robert Watts; and daughter, Joan Hakala. Survivors include sons, Ronald Watts and Neil Watts; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-granchildren. Graveside services and burial will take place in Montrose, Colo.

Clara Claypole
Clara Anna Claypole, 75, Orrick, Mo., died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond; burial was in Cravens Cemetery in Camden. Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Bill Clevenger Sr.
William Andrew “Bill” Clevenger, Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Clevenger was born April 4, 1925, in Excelsior Springs, the son of Hugh and Trixie Belle (Crook) Clevenger. He was maried to Margaret Elizabeth Clevenger on April 14, 1950; she survives of the home. For many years he was a self-employed truck driver. He worked for Goosetree Dump Truck, ran a milk route for a farm co-op until the late 1960s and drove a mail truck for Rooney’s Trucking until he retired in 1990. He had also more recently worked at the Kearney truck stop. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and sisters. In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Sally Sellars, Excelsior Springs; one son, Bill Clevenger Jr., Excelsior Springs; four grandchildren, Andy Mawby, Quinton Sellars, Amanda McLaughlin and Brent Clevenger; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Burial will be in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Kansas City. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 2, at the funeral home.

John Conley
John N. Conley, 94, Missouri City, Mo., died Friday, June 18, 2010.
Mr. Conley was born April 15, 1916, in Clay County. He farmed most of his life and also worked at Cook’s Paint before he retired. He was a lifetime member of Birmingham Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Everett and Evalena Conley, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Conley; and a brother, Ralph Conley. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Truelove, Missouri City; a son, Larry Conley, Houston, Texas; two brothers, Daniel Conley, Lawson, and W.L. Conley, Missouri City; three grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home in Liberty. Burial in the Missouri City Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 21, at the funeral home.

Larry Craven
Larry R. Craven, 68, Liberty, Mo. (formerly of Nashville, Tenn.), died Saturday, June 19, 2010, in Liberty. Mr. Craven was born Aug. 30, 1941, the son of Ronald and Esther Joyce (Gregory) Craven. He was married to Christine Joyner on Sept. 6, 1983; she preceded him in death on March 1, 2006. He was a member of Chandler Baptist Church in Liberty. Survivors include his brothers, Gregg Craven, Brady Craven and Mark Craven; sister, Betty Bonham; stepmother, Bernice Craven; stepbrother, Eddie Barber; stepsisters, Jeanette Crane and Addie Kay Saltys; stepdaughter, Diane Turner; stepson, Jerry Smothers; and several stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at Chandler Baptist Church in Liberty. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside services and burial will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Old Brick Cemetery in Albany. Memorial contributions may be made to Chandler Baptist Church, in care of Roberson-Polley Chapel, 403 N. Jerry Crofut
Jerry D. Crofut, 70, Lawson, Mo., died Thursday, June 24, 2010. Mr. Crofut was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Navarro County, Texas, the son of Bert Earl Crofut and Lucille Holloway. He worked for 10 years at Ford Motor Company, and then at TWA as an airline mechanic from 1971 to 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, Lawson; his daughter, Gina McCall, Smithville, and Lori Camper; brother, Sonny Crofut; sister, Barbara Johnston; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, with memorial services following at 7:30 p.m., both at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Cremation, but burial at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.

“Doc” Dale
Daryl E. “Doc” Dale, 81, Bethany, Mo., died Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at Ridgeway United Methodist Church in Ridgeway, where visitation is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 18. Burial in Ridgeway Cemetery. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.

Dorothy Dercher
Dorothy “Dottie” Dercher, 80, Kansas City, Kan., died Monday, June 28, 2010, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. Ms. Dercher was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of John and Antonia Zager. She was a secretary in the surgery department at Bethany Medical Center for 11 years, and also worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Laing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Dercher; four brothers, John Dercher, Joseph Dercher, Frank Dercher and Tony Dercher; and three sisters, Mary Stubler, Anna Tronko and Antonia Zager. Survivors include her son, Bruce Dercher, Weatherby Lake, Mo.; three grandchildren, Angie Coffin, Philip Dercher and Kathryn Dercher; and three great-grandchildren, Hudson, Tyler and Kaya. Funeral Mass was scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kan. Visitation was set for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, also at the church. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Kan. Arrangements are through Skradski Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Rodney Elmore
Rodney C. Elmore, 82, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Saturday, June 12, 2010, at his home. Mr. Elmore was born March 7, 1928, in Excelsior Springs, the son of W. R. “Colonel” and Ruby A. (Allen) Elmore. He worked as a self employed sales manager for Beverly Tool. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Excelsior Springs. He was married to Virginia "Ginger" (Clark) Elmore on Nov. 14, 1991; she survives of the home. In addition to his wife, Ginger, survivors include two sons, Marc Lee Elmore, Kansas City, and John Render Elmore, Excelsior Springs; two daughters, Mary Janet Wilkins and Carol Beth St. John, both of Excelsior Springs; two stepdaughters, Shelly Ann Clevenger and Pamela Kay Biddix, both of Lawson; one stepson, James Caswell Richardson, Lawson; 32 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at First United Methodist Church in Excelsior Springs. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Excelsior Springs. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.

Barbara Evans
Barbara Jean Brumbach Evans, 82, died Monday, June 21, 2010. Ms. Evans was born Oct. 5, 1927, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Brumbach. She was married to Earl V. Evans on Nov. 1, 1952. They first lived in Columbia, then moved to Kansas City, where she was a substitute teacher in the North Kansas City School District for many years. She was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. After her husband died on Sept. 8, 2007, she moved to Kearney, Mo. Survivors include two sons, Jeff Evans and David Evans; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m. Friday, June 25, at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at McGilley Antioch Chapel, as well as from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Reta Fest
Reta Maxine (Cox) Fest, 85, died Sunday, June 27, 2010. Ms. Fest was born Nov. 29, 1924, the daughter of Charles and Ethel (McCombs) Cox. She was married to Vernon Fest. They founded a Pentecostal church in Seymour, Iowa, then Vernon pastored churches in Green City and Liberty, both in Missouri, and in Moville, Iowa. She also worked outside the home after raising her children, retiring after 25 years with Montgomery Ward in Kansas City. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen, at childbirth; two sisters and one brother. Survivors include her husband, Vernon; two children, Darwin and Donna; a brother, Charles Cox, Deming, N.M.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at First Assembly of God Church in Liberty. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1, at Van Wert Cemetery in Van Wert, Iowa. Arrangements are through Fry-Bross & Spidle Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorial contributions may be made to Northcare Hospice.

Orville Frank
Orville Edward Frank, 77, Kansas City, Mo., died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at the Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Frank was born Jan. 25, 1933, in Kansas City, the son of Edward and Frances Clara (Olbinger) Frank. He was married to Cecelia (VanGorkom) Frank, who preceded him in death. He was a paint and body man in the auto body business for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Survivors include two daughters, Frances Raines, Excelsior Springs, and Nancy Anderson, Kansas; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Woodland Baptist Church near Liberty. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Greenlawn Cemetery in Kansas City. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.

Jeffry Alan Gardner, 54, Chillicothe, Mo. died Saturday, June 5, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 10, at Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Mo. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Mo. Burial in Utica Cemetery, Utica, Mo.

Eleanor M. George
Eleanor Marie George, 89, of Lawson, Mo., died Tuesday June 8, 2010, at the Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Born January 10, 1921 in Kansas City, Mo., she was the daughter of John Paul and Mary Ann (Radler) Kramer who preceded her in death as well as six siblings. “Nonie” or “Granny,” as she was lovingly known by her family, is survived by her three children, Roxann Shook and husband Donald of Lawson, Mo., David George and wife Trinia of Independence, Mo., and Donna Welch and husband Pete of Lawson, Mo.,; one sister, Alvena Hayden of Staton, Cali.,; one brother, Val Kramer of Kansas City, Mo.,; six grandchildren, Angela Holles, Donnie Shook, Kathy Welch, Clint Welch, Jarred Welch and Brandon Farrens; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was raised in Kansas City and graduated from Manuel High School. She was employed at various locations, had been a secretary and retired from Whitaker Cable. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, The Guild, Lawson Red Hatters, Ray County Senior Citizens and the Sight Council. Her hobbies included bingo, sewing and above all, her family and grandkids. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 9:30 a.m.at St. Ann Catholic Church in Excelsior Springs. Interment will follow at Lawson Cemetery in Lawson, Mo. Visitation is Friday, June 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Polley Funeral Home in Lawson, Mo., with a Scripture Service at 7:30 p.m. The family has suggested memorials to St. Ann Catholic Church or Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Residents Fund. Arrangements by Polley Funeral Home.

John Hickerson
John D. Hickerson, 56, Liberty, Mo., died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo., after a battle with cancer. Mr. Hickerson grew up in Claycomo, then worked in the printing business before being employed at Fort Osage School District. At his request, no formal services will be held, but a celebration of his life will take place Saturday afternoon, July 3, at the Pub House in Liberty. Arrangements are through Marts Memorial Services in Kansas City.

Terry Hutchinson
Terry Alan Hutchinson, 57, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Monday, June 28, 2010, at his home. Mr. Hutchinson was born Oct. 24, 1952, in Kansas City, the son of Riley and Peggy (Teegarden) Hutchinson. He worked for Trail Mobile for several years and had also worked for wholesale florists. He was married to Margaret (Goff) Hutchinson on Oct. 20, 1982; she survives of the home. In addition to his wife, Margaret, survivors include one sister, Joyce Gray, Cameron; one brother, Michael Hutchinson, Kansas City; two stepchildren, April Butler and Danny Phelps, both of Braymer; eight stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren. The family was scheduled to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Cremation. Martha Jenkins
Martha E. Jenkins of Richmond, Mo. died Saturday, June 5, 2010. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gowing Chapel in Orrick, Mo. Funeral servicves will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at the Chapel. Memorials can be made to Shirkey Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Elizabeth “Betty” Johnson
Elizabeth Lou “Betty” Johnson, 81, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Tuesday, June 16, 2010, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Home in Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Johnson was born February 3, 1929, in Kansas City, the daughter of William John and Sarah Elizabeth (Ball) Kersten. She was married to Lee Roy Johnson on Jan. 19, 1989; he preceded her in death March 16, 1999. attended Ward High School in Kansas City. For several years, she bought and sold antiques. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Kersten. Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Jenkyn, Gulf Shores, Fla.; a son, Mark Horton, Orrick, Mo.; three brothers, Gene Kersten, Quememo, Kan., William Kersten, Liberty, and Donald Kersten, Kansas City; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the Cravens Cemetery near Camden. There is no public visitation scheduled. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.

David A. Kegley, 81, Lexington, Mo. passed away June 6, 2010. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Hoefer Chapel. Burial to follow. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.

Edwin Kirk
Edwin Jackson Kirk, 90, Independence, Mo., died Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Mr. Kirk was born Oct. 8, 1919, in Richmond, the son of Charles Columbus Kirk and Bessie Lillian Jackson. He worked as a bricklayer for the Bricklayers Union. He lived in the Kansas City area most of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Bill; a sister, Sarah Irons; and grandson, Donny Chambers. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lois J. Kirk, of the home; daughters, Debbie Chambers, Blue Springs, and Gail Moritz, Independence; brother, Jack Kirk, Independence; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Park Lawn Chapel in Kansas City; services with military honors will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Brenda Kitterman
Brenda H. Kitterman, 53, Kearney, Mo., died Saturday, June 26, 2010. Ms. Kitterman was born June 13, 1957, in Independence, the daughter of Harley and Jean E. Werntz Harbison. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Kearney. She was preceded in death by her father. Survivors include her husband, Rob, of the home; her daughters, Jaclyn Kitterman and Kelly Kitterman, both of the home; her son, Bradley Kitterman, U.S. Air Force; her mother, Jean Harbison, Kearney; and her brother, Ken Harbison, North Kansas City. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 28, at First Baptist Church on Kearney. Services were scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at the church. Burial in Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty. Ethel W. Malott, 69, Excelsior Springs, Mo. died Monday, June 7, 2010, at the Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Ethel was born on May 5, 1941 in Vibbard, Mo. the daughter of Jewell Thomas and Mary Orilla (Crouse) Adams. She attended the Vibbard Christian Union Church as a child and then attended church at the Salvation Army of Excelsior Springs. She was married to Claude Newton Malott who preceded her in death in 1987. She was a homemaker. Survivors include one daughter Sandra Moore of Rayville, Mo., one son Dale Malott of Lawson, Mo., one sister Myrtle Pate of Excelsior Springs, one brother Earl Ray Adams of Excelsior Springs, seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shelly Downs along with her infant son Justin Downs and Siblings Wayne Adams, Carol Adams, Charles Bill Adams, Naomi Johnson, Jim Adams, Lou Ellen Adams and Robert Franklin Adams. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2010, at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, Mo. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the Funeral home. “Jim” Mayse
James P. “Jim” Mayse, 49, Independence, Mo., died Friday, June 25, 2010. Mr. Mayse was born June 27, 1961, in Kansas City, the son of Jack and Dolores (O’Neill) Mayse. He was a Catholic. He was a carpenter for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include two brothers, Daniel L. Mayse, Independence, and Donnie L. Mayse, Excelsior Springs; and two nieces and two nephews, Thomas, Jennifer, Amanda and D.J. Funeral services were held at noon Thursday, July 1, at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Noland Road Chapel in Independence; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A Celebration of Life was held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the chapel.

Denny McCorkendale
Denny McCorkendale, 56, Richmond, Mo., died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at his home. Mr. McCorkendale was born March 21, 1954, in Carrollton, the son of Harold L. and Evelyn (Alexander) McCorkendale. He was raised by his uncle and aunt, Harold and Della Ballard. He was married to LaDonna Thompson on June 5, 2002. He was a truck driver for Lake City Arsenal for 26 years before he retired in 2009. He also loved to farm. He lived in the Hardin and Richmond areas most of his life. He was of the Christian faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle. Survivors include his wife, LaDonna McCorkendale; one stepson, Lance Bowles, Independence; one stepdaughter, Cammie Miller, Lee’s Summit; two brothers, Bob McCorkendale, Hardin, and Doug Cron, Kansas City, Kan.; and five stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the funeral home. Bernice “Iverne” McKee
Bernice “Iverne” McKee, 87, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter M. Gibson and Opal L. Duncan Gibson, and sister, Lillian, Grand Pass, Mo.; her husband, James C. McKee, Blue Springs, Mo.; son, Ronald G. McKee, and daughter-in-law, Janice McKee, Raytown, Mo. She is survived by two sons, James M. and Cheryl McKee, Blue Springs, Mo., and Dennis A. and Judy McKee, Smithville, Mo.; sister, Erma L. Robert L. Miller
Robert L. Miller, 78, Pleasant Hill, Mo. died Friday, June 4, 2010, at the KU Medical Center. He was a heavy equipment operator and was instrumental in the construction of several dams and highways in the area and was a proud member of the I.U.O.E. Local #101. He is survived by wife, Joyce, of the home; three sons, Brent and wife Sherry Miller, of Grandview, Mo.; Nick and wife Teresa Miller, of Washington Courthouse, Oh.; Brad and wife Kelley Lathrop, of Warrenton, Mo.; four daughters, Belinda and husband Bob Ragain, of Sunrise Beach, Mo.; Chris and husband Mike Goff, of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; Sarah Miller, of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; and Jackie Mann, of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Jackie and wife Dixie Miller and Jerry and wife Verdelle Miller of Kansas City, Mo. Ronald R. Miller, Sr., 67, Deepwater, Mo., died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 in Clinton, Mo. Miller worked for Hallmark Cards for 37 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his mother, Beatrice Miller, Stewardsville, Mo.; his fiance, Liz Burns, Mt. Zion, Mo.; his son, Ronnie Miller and his fiance, Dana Boshert, Parkville, Mo.; his daughter, Deana Miller, Kearney, Mo.; his brother, Richard Miller, Kansas City, Mo.; his sisters, Roberta Long, Kansas City, Mo, and Romona Weiland of St. Joseph, Mo., and three grandchildren.

Mary Ann Monks
Mary Ann (Sheets) Monks, 82, Polo, Mo., died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Monks was born March 6, 1928, in Flint, Mich. She lived most of her life in Polo. She was married to Samuel E. Monks on Aug. 25, 1950; he survives of the home. She was a member of Bethel Christian Union Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester Dewey and Bessie Leona (Cobb) Sheets; and her brother, William Joel Sheets. In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, William Scott Monks, Mexico, Jamiie Jo Williams, Niceville, Fla., Christy Stratton, Excelsior Springs, Patricia Boyce, Merriam, Kan., Mary Kay Randolph, Mount Zion, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Dora “Jan” Neth
Dora Jeanette “Jan” Neth, 77, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Liberty Terrace Nursing Center, Liberty, Mo. She married James W.L. DeLong and had five children, 10 grandchildren and one great grandson. She moved to Liberty in 1963, where she worked as a waitress for Trails Inn and later retired from the Liberty Public Schools as the “lunch lady.” She was preceded in death by her parents, son M. Lee Perkins and her late husband, Robert O. Neth. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2010, and a funeral service celebrating Jan’s life will be at noon Monday, June 14, 2010, at the Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at 291 Highway, Liberty, Mo. Dorothy Patterson
Dorothy Patterson, 92, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Ms. Patterson was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was an English teacher and, later, Dean of Women at William Jewell College, then taught English at Smithville, Trenton and Liberty high schools and assisted in the drama department at Missouri Valley. She was married for 58 years to Norris Patterson, head football coach, athletic director and chairman of the Department of Physical Education at William Jewell during the 1950s and 1960s. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Liberty for more than 50 years. Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Morrow; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Glenridge Cemetery near Liberty. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Sunrise of Leawood in Leawood, Kan. Joe Porter
Joseph B. “Joe” Porter, 84, Paola, Kan. (formerly of Kansas City, Kan.), died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at his home. Mr. Porter was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Queens, N.Y., and had lived in Kansas City for more than 60 years before he moved to the Paola area. He was a 50-year member of the Sheetmetal Workers Union Local #2. He was a member of White Church Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Porter; a brother; and two sisters. John Ratliff
John William “John Boy” Ratliff, 39, Blue Springs, Mo., died Thursday, June 24, 2010, in Blue Springs. Mr. Ratliff worked as an installer for Swim Things in Blue Springs for the past nine years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Gulf War. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Ratliff; and his maternal grandparents, Edward and Doris Saulsbury. Clarence E. Reavis, 70, Smithville, Mo., died Thursday, June 17, 2010. Regina K. Risley (R.M. Bonavia), 54, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010, at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Mo. Gina was born Nov. 5, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo. She enjoyed many activities inside and outside the home, including gardening, camping, traveling and taking walks with her friends. Most meaningful in her life was her family, and then volunteering her time where needed. She was a member of The Harmony Club and Boy Scouts of America. Gina was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Alice Bonavia; and brother, Tony, Bonavia. Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Richard O. Risley; children, Michele L. Sherrils, Shawn E. Risley and stepson Justin M. Risley; siblings and their spouses, Carrie and Gary Correll, Anna Bonavia, Lawrence Bonavia Jr., Catherine and Stephen Wyatt, Johanna Bonavia and Virginia Wilkins; and brother-in-law and his wife, Chuck and Dianne Risley. Herbert Roe
Herbert E. Roe, 65, Excelsior Springs, Mo., died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at his home. Mr. Roe was born Feb. 10, 1945, in Jackson County, the son of James Roscoe and Georgia Catherine (Williams) Roe. He was married to Jackie (Tarwaters) Roe on Aug. 27, 1963; she survives of the home. He worked as water plant manager for the city of Excelsior Springs for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas C. Roe and William E. Roe; and one sister, Truesella Bannister. In addition to his wife, Jackie, survivors include three sons, Vincent Roe and Richard Roe, both of Excelsior Springs, and Timothy Roe, Independence; one daughter, Michelle Roe, Excelsior Springs; one brother, James D. Maxine Shelton
Maxine Shelton, 80, Richmond, Mo., died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond. Mrs. Shelton was born Oct. 19, 1929, in Ray County, the daughter of Ralph and Sadie (Mullin) O’Dell. She was married to Junior L. Shelton on Oct. 23, 1947; he preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1989. She worked at several jobs, retiring in 1978, and was also a homemaker. She lived in the Richmond area most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Richmond. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard O’Dell; and one granddaughter, Crystal Smith. Survivors include one son, David Shelton, Excelsior Springs; one daughter, Marilyn Gayle, Richmond; one granddaughter, Sherry A. Gayle-Smith, Richmond; two grandsons, Clint Shelton, Springfield, and David Aaron Shelton, Richmond; and four great-grandchildren. Elma Sickel
Elma Blanche (Basham) Sickel, 87, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at New Mark Care Center in Kansas city, Mo. Ms. Sickel was born Dec. 27, 1922, in Kansas City. She was married to Marcus D. Sickel on Jan. 21, 1946. In addition to her parents, Arthur and Laura Basham, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Basham; three sisters, Dhlema Hodges, Erline Basham and Jean Lewis; her husband, Marc; and one son, Darrell Sickel. Survivors include daughters, Marla Sammon, Raytown, Sheri Teaford, Overland Park, Kan., and Deidre Arnone, Kearney; sons, Terry Sickel and Kevin Sickel, both of Kansas City North, Tim Sickel, Gladstone, and Damon Sickel, Kearney; one brother, Clayton Basham; 16 grandchldren; and five great-grandchildren. Opal Sims, 78, Excelsior Springs, Mo. passed away June 7, 2010. Mrs. Sims was born April 12, 1932, in Cameron, Mo. to Claude and Dewey Tate Colley. She was a horse trainer. Along with her parents, Mrs. Sims is preceded in death by a sibling and husband Frank Sims. She is survived by daughter and husband Janet and Chris Kennedy and granddaughter Madison. Mildred Smith
Mildred Estelle Smith, 93, died Friday, June 18, 2010, at the Residencies of Pleasanton assisted living facility in Pleasanton, Kan. Ms. Smith was born July 15, 1916, in Linn County, Kan., the daughter of Waldo and Ferne Lambert Snider. She was married to Charles “Scotty” Smith in 1934. She lived in Linn County all her life, and worked at Saunders Market, Cox Motor Company and the Bank of Pleasanton before she retired in 1990. She was a member of Pleasanton Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include her children, Patsy Smith, Pleasanton, Kan.; her son, James D. Smith, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, at the Presbyterian Church in Pleasanton, Kan. “Rusty” Stewart
Roysten H. “Rusty” Stewart Sr., 63, Hamilton, Mo., died Wednesday, June 16, 2010.
Mr. Stewart was born Nov. 24, 1946, in Kansas City, the son of Jim and Ida MaeAlice Moon Stewart. He was a section hand for the railroad. Survivors include his wife, Merlyn; his sons, Allen Stewart and Roysten “Rusty” Stewart Jr.; daughter, Rhonda Smith; brothers, J.W. Jean Summers
Jean F. Summers, 85, Kansas City, Mo. (formerly of Hardin, Mo.), died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Mo. Ms. Summers was the daughter of William Halie Sr. and Susie Bryan (Gentry) Frazer. She was married to James Kenneth “J.K.” Summers on Sept. 13, 1942; he died Aug. 23, 1991. She was employed at the Hardin Post Office for 25 years, retiring as postmaster in 1985. She was a member of Hardin United Methodist Church, and after moving to Kansas City she attended Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kenni Sue Summers; and a brother, William Hallie Frazer Jr. Survivors iclude three sons, Gary Summers, Cameron, Kent Summers, Greenwood, Ind., and Tim Summers, Kansas City; one sister, Betty Strider, Kansas City; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at the United Methodist Church in Hardin. Phillip Taylor
Phillip Leonard Taylor, 62, Excelsior Springs, Mo. died Friday, June 4, 2010, at Thomas Hill Lake near Macon, Mo. Mr. Taylor was born on January 22, 1948, in Richmond, Mo., the son of Caroll and Della (Bunch) Taylor. On August 6, 2002, He married Linda (Reynolds) Taylor who survives of the home. He was a contractor in the Drywall business for several years. He loved to fish and loved going on fishing trips with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Caroll Gene and one sister Rosalee. Survivors include his wife Linda; son Phillip Taylor and wife Angela of Colubbia, Ill.; daughter Elizabeth VanPelt of Excelsior Springs; step-children Lee and Melody VanPelt; three grandchildren, Reese, Josey and Camden and several nieces and nephews. Walter Wayne Wilhite, 87, Belton, Mo., went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2010, at his residence. Walter was born July 8, 1922, in LaPlata, Mo. He retired from Remington Lake City Plant in Independence, Mo., on July 31, 1984. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 236 in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Wayne spent most of his adult life in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He was a member of the First Assembly of God church and touched many lives through his leadership in Royal Rangers. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; two sisters; his first wife of 16 years, Doris Wood; his second wife of 22 years, Frances Alexander; and an infant son. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Wanda; children, Sherry Holder of Harrisonville, Mo., Gary Wilhite of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Marsha Conway of Ellington, Mo., and Becky Kelly of Kansas City, Mo.; 11 stepchildren; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Grain Valley, Mo. He will be laid to rest with military honors in Swan Lake Memorial Park, Grain Valley, Mo. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wayne Wilhite Memorial Fund set up by his son, Gary Wilhite, in care of Excelsior Springs Baptist Church, 1500 Rosalie, Excelsior Springs, MO 64024.

Robert Wootten
Robert Wootten, 76, died Sunday, June 5, 2010. Funeral Mass was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, Mo.; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements are through McGilley Antioch Chapel in Kansas City.

Rose Worth
Rose Marie (Mandl) Worth, 84, Liberty, Mo., died Tuesday, June 29, 2010. Mrs. Worth was born Sept. 8, 1925, in Kansas City, the daughter of Frank and Jenny (Neuman) Mandl. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Liberty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a son, Murrel “Buddy” Worth. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bill Worth; three children, Kimberly Filbeck, Nancy O’Reilly and Marilyn Langtor, all of Liberty; a sister, Jeannine McCormick; a brother, Jon Mandl; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation was scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial in Resurrection North Cemetery. Arrangements are through Park Lawn Northland Chapel in Liberty. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
