Wind storm rips through Excelsior
Dozens of Excelsior Springs residents were awakened by what sounded like a wall of wind in the early morning hours of Saturday, Dec. 27, and that wind -- coupled with heavy rain and some thunder and lightning -- caused damage in neighborhoods all throughout the community.
Saturday morning, many were out surveying the damage. For the most part, the after effects were limited to downed limbs and branches, but in a few places entire trees had become uprooted. In some cases, the limbs had damaged homes, outbuildings and vehicles.

The bridge project had been assigned a price tag of $550,594.50 by engineers at Shafer, Kline & Warren, but the lowest bid for the project came from Boone Construction -- at a whopping $757,580.50.
