Drama, culture among highlights of Scotland trip
Our time in Edinburgh was spent going to and from rehearsals, shopping on the Royal Mile, attending professional and other AHSTF shows, going on a tour of the Scottish Highlands and Stirling Castle and having meetings at St. Giles's Cathedral after a lovely day of sightseeing and shopping. We also had the opportunity to see the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a showcase of world-renowned bands, dance teams and drill teams that came from every corner of the earth. There were performers from India, Norway, Scotland and there was even a band from Southeast Missouri State University. We also went on a tour of Edinburgh Castle to see the crown jewels of Scotland and the castle stronghold of Edinburgh.

Good Sam grows to meet demand
More than two decades ago, the Good Samaritan Center began distributing clothing to clients on a limited basis from their original location on Broadway. A small room in the basement held four or five boxes of donated clothing that was given to people who needed a shirt or pair of pants to wear to work.
It quickly became apparent that the demand for this was great. With the idea in mind of better serving their clients' needs, the Good Samaritan Center began planning to open a second location dedicated to assisting people with clothing and basic household needs, such as clothing, pots, pans, bedding and blankets.

School construction in final weeks
It's almost done, and just a few weeks past the target date.

About a dozen and a half local residents, business people and officials will be in the driver's seat for the next year, as the city of Excelsior Springs formulates a Master Plan.

Board, Council have joint meeting
In Excelsior Springs, a total of 12 elected individuals run perhaps the two most important facets of our community -- the city and the public school district.
But rarely do the seven members of the Excelsior Springs Board of Education and the five members of the Excelsior Springs City Council sit down together to ask and answer questions, plus talk about matters that affect them both.
